WHAT IS ANOXART?TION PRESERVATION

Existing treatment methods can have detrimental effects on artworks, such as:
- Cracking
- Shrinkage
- Weaken joints
- Embrittlement
- Adhesive failure
- Risk of desiccation
- Accelerating the degradation process

We have developed our own non-toxic system, treating objects using anoxic environments.

The artefact is sealed in an air-tight container, and the oxygen is removed and replaced with an inert gas. Oxygen levels are maintained below 0.3% for the duration of the treatment which safely and successfully eradicates insects at all stages of the life cycle. Both the temperature and humidity are controlled within the chamber to maintain the recommended parameters for the object, thereby mitigating damage caused by these environmental factors.

We are able to carry out the work in situ, therefore reducing handling and transport costs, but equally treatments can be executed at our premises allowing the item to be removed from the gallery, archive or storage unit, lowering the risk of potential contamination.
